The absent elders

On 27th August, 2011, a historic debate took place in the Parliament. Bowing to the voice of the aam aadmi, the Parliament discussed and debated the 3 issues referred to it by the government  on the insistence of the people ----- inclusion of lower bureaucracy in the Lokpal's ambit, Citizens Charter and redress of public grievances, and institutionalisation of Lokayuktas. Here is the Attendance Record for Rajya Sabha ----

  1. Can we also get similar attendance record for Lok Sabha ?
People need to know when the elected reps are absent from such important debates...

  2. I"ll upload the Lok Sabha list tomorrow. If possible, do write to the absentee MPs asking them to explain their absence. Most of them have e mail IDs which they access. For example, I know that Rajeev Chandrashekahar reads the e mails sent to him by citizens.

  3. PriyaJi,
Here is a document, I have posted in the IAC private groups. Please read below the idea and in my next post/comment, I will cp-paste the actual link

Read somewhere in the news, that Anna plans to do a Padayatra from Kashmir to KanyaKumari next. So How can passionate and patriotic IT professionals, who are more comfortable in front of a laptop & smart-phones contribute (I am one of them)

Somebody in Team Anna would be chalking out a schedule. They would know, exactly which city/Constituency, Anna would visit on a particular day. There would be speeches/rallies/street dramas and many such things in those cities. If along with all that, if the volunteers of Team Anna can distribute pamphlets/propaganda material of the local MP/MLA/MLC's in the local language ... that will be high impact.

QUESTION 1: "WHAT" WOULD THESE PAMPHLETS/PROPAGANDA MATERIALS HAVE

    * These Pamphlets/Propaganda Materials will have hard evidential facts obtained thru RTI and other verifiable sources.
    * These Pamphlets would be a single color printout with the photo of the MP/MLA/MLC
    * These Pamphlets will have two columns : "The Good' and "The Bad" column"
    * Good Column talks about what good things the politician has done
    * Bad Column talks about his bad deeds/criminal cases/number of times he has attended parliament etc. etc.
    * Not more than 5-6 bullets for each column. (Otherwise the attention span of people will be lost)

QUESTION 2: "HOW" TO GATHER & ORGANIZE "THE GOOD AND "THE BAD"

    * Involve Social Activists/Journalists/Lawyers living in India to file for RTI's or any other "legal way" to dig the dirt or dig the Gold of each politician
    * Provide them a means like a centralized google document or a simple email address, where they can send/save their investigative findings
    * Involve IT professionals to Google and do internet searches and whatever other legal means to conduct their part of the investigation
    * Create a core team of highly skilled software professionals, experts in Databases/Scripting/Web development etc., who can create a centralized website, where the accessing of "THE GOOD" and "THE BAD" is very simple and straight-forward for people who are new to computers
    * The website should be able to create automatically pamphlets and propaganda materials with a few clicks of a mouse for IT newbies
    * The website should be scalable (expandable0, so that it can be used to provide information , based on each constituency, on every Candidate

    SHORT TERM GAINS

    * Keeping the Momentum Going, by involving the current IT Savvy GenX
    * Involving Non-IT professionals like Journalists/Social Activists to use their skills in a different but exciting project
    * Provide immediate assistance to the next steps of what Anna is going to take

    LONG TERM GAINS

    * This needs to be developed, as the most credible centralized point of information, in the lines of say CarFax Lemon Check
    * Future candidates should approach us themselves with their information.
    * Would be used during the next general elections/state elections/Muncipal Elections. ..

    Anand
