Rahul Gandhi, aap RML mein kyon?

Yet another terror blast. Eleven lives lost, scores injured, hundreds traumatised, millions wondering whether we will ever again live with a sense of security in the land of our birth.

The Prime Minister and the Home Minister have made statements that one does not really need to hear because, tragically enough, the very same statements are made every time a terror blast takes place.

Rahul Gandhi is visiting the RML Hospital, where the injured are being taken to receive medical care. Is there a single good reason for his visit? Is the RML Hospital not equipped to take care of the injured? Will the doctors and other medical staff  discharge their duties better because Rahul Gandhi is visiting? Will the injured get any relief from pain? Will those who have lost their limbs get them back? Will the family members forget even for a millionth of a fraction of a second the pain of their loved ones ?

Does he not realise that his visit throws all arrangements at the hospital awry, and that the police force will have to step up security measures, move away relatives and friends of those injured in the blast and others receiving medical care at the hospital? Are the doctors to attend to the patients or to brief him?

When will our leaders cease to make empty gestures?

If Rahul Gandhi is so concerned about the victims of the terror blasts, why does he not ask the government to take concrete, meaningful measures to improve internal security? Why does he not press for police reforms?

There ought to be a statutory requirement that so long as the police authorities do not publicly declare that a visit to the site of the terror attack or the hospitals will no compromise the investigation or the interests of the victims of the attack, no one who is not directly connected with the investigation will visit the site or the hospitals, including Ministers, Members of Parliament and other VIPs.

  4. Nice Initiative - I have just signed it. I also have sent an email to Rahul Gandhi on the day of blast - asking him what good he did by visiting the hospital and blast site but no reply so far.

  5. I agree! A total review and revamp of the entire apparatus of Government with a key focus on e-Governance for the red tape is the need of the hour, we need visible, tangible feet on the ground with proper training!

I am fully agreed with Priya Madam as No need to visit victoms after the trajedy and distrub total envornment.it is time and maney spending activity and it will not make any impact on originators of these issue only solid & failproof action against these types of mishappenings will help us to overcome these.

  11. We the people need to come out strongly and boo these politicians whereever they go. Need some strong talking as well. Just by walking or visiting a place does not mean anything according to me. I don't really see any change in security blast after blast. Its the same old thing. Imagine sitting on a file of security cameras for 3 years citing different reasons. Its does not happen with Ministers personal security then why play with peoples security. People of india definitely need to be stronger adn be prepared to fight.

  13. Well Written and well said.
Its all farce, they rush to the site/hospital to get some political mileage.
If you remember Vilasrao Deshmukh CM of Maha called his actor son Riteish and famous Director RGV of bollywoord to the Taj Mumbai. That terror attack cost around 200 lives, and our VVIP thinks of launcing his son for a terror film. wah kya baat hai.

  14. Tapan -----that's a very valid point-----but for me, Rahul Gandhi is simply symbolic of everything that is wrong with our political class.

  15. Nice Insight to the prevalent situation. High time the VIP's understand the repercussion of their unwarranted visits. They must exercise solitude to avoid difficulty that could cause anxiety to the relatives and medics as such.

  23. Well written! I signed petition also but I think it's not sufficient enough. See the statement of home minister. He seems completely unable to control such heinous acts and fight against terrorism. question is to whom you will make responsible? it's govt.? intelligence? security systems in our country? and how long. How long we will have to see blasts? shattered bodies of innocent people, their families? how long?

  24. truely said by vijay-they might take action only when some of the politicians die in blast.however they still wont punish the guilty. it would take years and lots of money to entertain them behind bars. bars -a "bar" did i spell correctly???

  27. I read a suggestion on some site, that every VIP who goes to visit victims should donate one unit of blood, and if implemented see how many come up to see.

  28. The only concrete step needed is the much delayed Police Reform bill passage. Until we give independence to the police and CBI , we can't expect much from our system.
These two steps alone can curb the menace of Power misuse by high and mighty. The corruption is ONLY DONE BY THOSE IN POWER (because no body else has the means and stamina to do so) and alas we have given the power of investigation and arrest to those very agencies, who are directly under the control of these powerful people. This flies in the face of even basic sense called as common sense. and still we have accepted it bowingly.
Those corrupt people also know this very well and this is how they are using this limp system to their advantage. These are the very people who say that corruption cannot be ended by a law , while they internally know that it can very well be done by the above two laws.
There is no denying that POWER CORRUPTS MOST OF THE PEOPLE. This shouldn't be the reason to say that all will keep on doing so , as faces change but chair is same. Rather it reinforces the need for another COUNTER POWER INSTITUTE FEARING WHICH THESE POWERFUL CHAIRS WORK RESPONSIBLY. This counter power mechanism is present already and is very well used by people in power to suppress the common man , who is considered helpless. WE just need this system to be given independence from bureaucratic and political class. Then see its real power to be used for the purpose , it was supposed to be made for.

  32. Tapan. U never feel the pain. When some one in need of urgent care and due to VIP visit he need to wait. Why VIP go to hospital just after the incidents.. to show sympathy to gain popularity. It is ridicules. He is trying to en-cash this incident as opportunity and also to show off that see i am prince with 12 SPG commandos to secure me and you common insecure people are here to die.
